  1. I have figured out some templates for MMC 7.5 that allow you to capture to SVCD (almost standard)

With MMC 7.1 you needed to run Fix12c then Mux it in TMPGEnc -- but with MMC 7.5 you no longe need Fix12c -- just a simple Mux in TMPGEnc and you have a fully compliant SVCD!!!

Ok ok - so it's not 100% on the fly captures to SVCD standard yet - but it's down from 3 steps to 2 steps :-)

expect an update of my tool today with templates and info.

  2. Big question though: does MMC 7.5 or MMC 7.5 Reg Tool make adequate SDE values (480x480)? This is actually independent (i think) of whether or not the resolution is actually 480x480. THe web address that explains all this is: http://www.geocities.com/eby_vdo/ Now, for some reason this utility doesn't work for me, so I am excited that now using MMC reg tool for 7.5 all I need is to mux and demux. Although lately i have just given up doing any svcd/vcd making after buying buffy season1 on dvd and learning that season 2 will be available in June. Back to the begining, SDE is a tricky beast by all accounts because different players may or may not use this value. Tood damn tricky. Good work Stinky

  3. Fix12c does not work and is now no longer needed with MMC 7.5

the SDE values ARE correct with a MMC 7.5 capture

look for an update of my tool and a full explanation by the end of today

the process of making an SVCD is now VERY simple - one extra step :-)

I'm coding and testing my templates right now

  4. For those following this thread version 0.9.2 of my MMC Reg Tool has been posted to my web site.

There are 3 different configurations of SVCD presets to choose from :-) -- each one burned as compliant in Nero and played just fine on my standalone DVD player!

  5. btw, it's quicker to go through edit/merge/cut in TMPG than demux/remux. it saves you the intermediate files and a bit of time.

  6. patrickm there is no intermediate file

    download my tool
    go to the presets page
hit the SVCD info button and see the screen capture

    or look here
    http://stinky.dosrules.com/svcd.gif

it does it in ONE step :-)

total process 1) capture 2) Mux in TMPGEnc

no intermediate file - you never really cut / merge anything

    it's killer!

  7. Help. I'm a newbie, but I've spent the past two weekends trying to capture an mpeg2 from ati tv wonder ve and convert it to svcd.

It looks like Stinky has done it, but I'm still lost on how to get it to work.

I loaded mmc 7.5 and now the video capture only displays AVI formats. The mpeg formats disappeared from good/better/best and the video cd selection is blanked out.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

  8. @wwonder: uninstall all version of MMC (use the beginning of this tutorial to help guide you - http://www.vcdhelp.com/ATI_AIW_Guide.htm)

then reinstall MMC 7.5 -- a lot of people have had problems not fully uninstalling previous versions

  10. sorry if i wasn't clear before, i just meant that rather than demux/mux with TMPG (which creates a .m2v and .mp2) you can just use the edit/join and not edit anything to demux/remux in one step, that's all

  11. Thanks all - It works just like Stinky says. Finally captured and burned my 1st svcd using an ati tv wonder ve card!!!

  12. patrickm - I'm guessing that stinky is suggesting doing just a mux and not a demux/mux. By this I mean simply going to the mux feature in TMPG and clicking on the file. If I remember correctly by clicking on the captured file both the audio and video streams appear in TMPG. I don't believe there is a need to demux the file first.

edit - If what I say is true then I think you are both doing essentially the same thing in TMPG. Just getting there in a different way.
