what is best and multi video fomat

i have lots of dvd disc and some my home video dvd and i wory to scrach i like to save all on hard drive for safety
what is best to save and best to play back i have usb dvd player it also play divx thru by usb and i like watermark title on the video what software i need to do this please help thankyou so much for help video

You can't watermark without re-encoding and costing you quality. What program is best to use to do this depends on what you are encoding to. My question would be why ? If these are you DVDs and your personal backups, why spoil them with watermarks ?

Personally, and putting aside the question of watermarks, I would use AutoGK to convert DVDs to Xvid for storage on your USB drive. if that is the way you want to go. Ignore the stupid and artificial constraints used by the video pirates. You cannot do a movie just using artificial sizes like 700MB and 1400MB. Use a quality based encoding to make it worthwhile.
