  1. I have a Dazzle DVC 80 just a little cheapy capture card, it has a severe problem dropping frames especially if I capture at 30 frames a second.

When using vdub to capture I can get considerablly less dropped frames when I capture at 15 fps than 30 fps.

So ? is, is it very bad, semi bad, or kinda bad to capture at 15 fps and then encode to 30 fps in tmpgenc when i try to make the vcd?

Well its bad for quality to capture at that rate, it can be done and made to work but will look very jittery. what are your system specs?

  3. my comp is pentium 3, 1 gig, 384 mb ram

im pretty sure my frame dropping prob is my capture card, i read in the capture card comments list that it is knid of peice of shit for everybody but for $60 its an ok place to start for me

if i caress it and blow in its ear talk real nice to it sometimes it will do ok

so i will take you advice and stay with thirty frames a second that is what i always use anyway i was just checking because i wasn't sure if it made a diff but i should use my brain a little more because 15 fps is probably half the quality of 30 fps now that i think about it

thanks for getting me thinking shochan

  4. At what resolution are you capturing when you get these drops?
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

How many frames do you drop when capturing at 30fps?

What codec are you using to capture?

    What is your capture resolution?

make sure DMA is enabled for your drive. (right click my computer, properties, device manager, select your drive and it is on one of your tabs)

If your capturing at 480x480 try 352x480.

If you have alot of stuff running in your system tray, try closing all but explorer and systray.
