problems playing SVCD on sony DVP-S7700

I have problems with getting SVCD's to play on my sony DVP-S7700, bought in 1999. I am getting a c0013 error whenever I play a SVCD.

I have used the following tools to produce my SVCD. TMPG to encode the avi-file to mpg2 and using Nero 5.5 to burn it. The dvd-player reads the SVCD and displays the cd-info, but when playing the MPEG2 track, it whirls for 5 seconds and displays the c0013 error.

It seems like, it does not like the MPEG2 compression or something like that.

I also used the VCDimager tool but to no avail the same error message.

Does anyone else have the same problem with this DVD-player??

I am having the exact same issues. According to this site, the player SHOULD play SVCD's. I'm able to play XVCD's no problems. I'd like to know if it's even worth trying to get SVCD's to work. Anyone know if I'll really notice a big difference in XVCD and SVCD? Or if there is a work around for playing SVCD's on the Sony DVP-S7700?
