I have just installed the trial version of SVCD2DVD and when I “preview” my menu setup Nero Showtime 2 starts and displays an error. How can I get the preview to work with Media Player Classic as shown in the tutorial? TIA for any help provided

You need to change the file association for IFO files. The following procedure is for WindowsXP. Open Windows Explorer. Click on Tools... Folder Options. Click on the File Types tab. A list of file extensions appears. Find IFO if it's there and click on it. Then click on the Change button and find Media Player Classic in the list that appears (or you can choose Windows Media Player) . If it's not in the list, click the Browse button to go to the folder that has the Media Player Classic program file and select it. Click OK, etc. If there's no IFO file extension in the original list, click New and type IFO in the box and I think you should be good for the rest.
Now if you still get an error message when Media Player opens, you might be missing some codecs. I've installed the full K-Lite Codec Pack which even included Media Player Classic. Mine was V3.7.5 but the latest version is here:
