When using DVD Shrink and Nero Recode 2, i get the message error:

    Nero Recode 2 :
Nero Recode 2 encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to open the file VTS_01_9.VOB
    There are no more files.

    DVD Shrink :

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
    Failed to open file"D:\dvd\dvd\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_9.VOB"

I've checked the file, VTS_01_9.VOB, it works fine!

I've tried ratDVD, IFOedit, DVDDecryter, RipIt4Me
    I LOVE my PC!

Where did these files come from ?
What other files do you have ?
Why on earth would you use ratDVD for anything other than taking up useless HDD space ?

At a wild guess, you have used out-dated software to rip a relatively current title, the software has done a poor job because it is outdated and hasn't been updated in years, and as a consequence, the files you have are damaged and un-usable.

if this sounds vaguely like your process, try ripping with the latest DVDFab HD Decrypter instead or DVD Decrypter and RipItForMe, or add the latest AnyDVD into your process before ripping. Either should give you usable files.

That may well be your problem.

Why is it 11 GB ?

Have you tried DVD Rebuilder ?

You should have encoded (or re-encoded) your video to the correct size inthe first instance, then authored. Authoring a disc which is substantially oversized, then using DVD Shrink or Nero Recode to reduce the size is asking for crap quality. The job is simply too big for them.

If DVD Rebuilder won't open the files either (and there is a good chance it won't), then you need to go back to your source mpeg, encode it to the correct size (use a bitrate calculator), then author. This is the proper procedure.
