I'll try to make this as short as possible. I am looking at the <60 G.B. 7200 RPM ATA/100 drives but I have a question for anyone who knows. How important is the buffer on the drive. Western Digital says that their new addition of an "8 MB cache" that it rivals the 15,000 RPM SCSI drives. How much would having a drive with a 2MB buffer differ from a drive with an 8 Mb buffer. What it boils down to is: Is it worth the extra cost for the extra speed for video editing. Thanks.

if the sole use is for video capture i promise you the buffer size is not important due to the data throughput, i have twin ibm deskstars with i think 2mb buffers each and they are quick eide drives (in raid in my case)
it is of more benefit if you are performing more office based tasks
look at

he has reviewed the western digital drives
