  1. i used to convert mpeg1 files (that are captured from tv show) to mpeg2 with tda. the audio is opted as AC3 dolby digital for conversion. but audio in the converted dvd video is not good as far as the clarity of sound is concerned. can i do something to enhance the sound quality?

Why convert mpg1 to mpg2? Every conversion reduces quality - that goes for both audio and video.

  3. thanks for the reply.
i capture the video from tv show as vcd mpeg1. it is not posssible to save the files as dvd at the time of capture.(needs lot of HD space)then i want to save the files (rather burn ) as DVD video.i get the audio as mpeg layer2.(mpa)this format i read somewhere that, will not play on some standalone dvd player. in order to avoid this difficulty i convert the audio to ac3. for that i convert the video mpeg1 to mpeg2. i know that mpeg1 video can be burned as dvd. but the audio should be 48khz.right? your suggestion indicate that conversion will reduce the quality. then what do you suggest after reading my explanation.
    thanks in advance.

It's true that some players don't like MP2 audio, yes, but they are very few. I wouldn't be concerned with those few, but just make sure the mp2 is 48 kHz. Authoring apps like TDA automatically upsamples 44.1 kHz audio to 48 kHz, and can take VCD mpg as is, and author as DVD.
If you really feel you have to use AC3, use ffmpeggui to reencode the audio only to AC3, then use original m1v (mpeg 1 video) + new AC3 as source material for authoring. There's no need to reencode the video just to change audio format - VCD video is low quality as is - don't unneccessarily make it worse by reencoding it.
