  1. Help.

I'm a touch frustrated. Somebody help me out and let me know what program to use for authoring a DVD using mpeg-2 (DVD NTSC) encoded capture files. Ulead's seems maybe oK I guess but it's buggy and pissing me off freexing all the time. I haven't found much on this subject here. Details please.

Another Question. I've heard that audio should be separated from mpeg and encoded seperately. Mpeg Layer-2 audio sucks. What steps do I take to use PCM or how can I convert into AC-3 format which I've heard takes up much less space on the DVD. I needs some help. Please. Help me...

  2. I can't answer any other of your questions but how to encode soundtrack in AC3 format. There is a commercial and quite expensive program called Soft Encode. It comes from Sonic Foundry and can mix 1 to 5.1 channels in AC3 (Dolby Digital). It is really easy to use and the results are proffesional. I won't go breaking forum rules here but the internet is a wondrous place...

  3. If I record a mpg-1 or mpg-2 video, can you walk me through the steps to get the audio into soft encode and what to do from their to get it back into the video to burn as a DVD?

    Thanks,
    Little John
