    Hi -

I am just trying to rip two DVD's that I need for my masters class so I can return them. But everything I have tried does not seem to work quite right.

Everything I use seems to work ok in that the program goes through and copies/rips it to my HD but the video looks all weird , not blurry but not right, the picture is double with lines through the images like they are out of phase with each other and if you could push the two together they would make a complete image and it shakes side to side.

    I have tried using -

    DVD Shrink

    DVDFab HD Decrypter

    DVD Decrypter

each look the same so I am guessing its either me or the disk, i'm not sure.

    any help would be great.

Sounds like interlace. What do you use when you watch your rips? This effect shouldn't be visible on the TV, and a software DVD player should deinterlace when playing back on your computer.

  3. Since those programs don't reencode, and since all you're doing is transferring the files from the DVDs to the hard drive, and since you're getting what's on the discs untouched and unchanged, then I'd say it's you and not the discs. I guess you've never heard of interlacing. I hope your masters isn't in anything having to do with video.

Maybe interlacing? Try displaying it with a player that can deinterlace, like VLC Media Player or Power DVD or similar.

Does it look a bit like the pics in this post? https://forum.videohelp.com/topic342557.html#1789132

I had not intention of watching it on my tv I wanted to watch them on my computer. I was just using win media or winamp to watch them. didn't know I needed something special to watch them. does this always happen? How can I get or can I get into an easier to use copy so I can just use it with a player I already have?

Once you've ripped the DVDs, If you just want computer playback, you can convert them to AVI with AutoGK, which will deinterlace as part of the conversion process (besides substantially reducing the file size).
