I'm trying to take a QT Movie (DV codec, 48khz audio) and make an avi file.

If I select any of the xvid or divx presets after encoding there is either no audio or separate audio files.

What do I need to do to make one avi file with a stereo or even mono audio track? The manual stinks for basic instruction and I only need to do this one simple task so any help is appreciated.

    Working in MAX OSX 10.4.11
    ffmpegX 0.0.9x

I've noticed sometimes DV MOVs are recognized by ffmpegX as having one of two "different" types of audio:
    • pcm_s16le, 48000 Hz, stereo, 1536 kb/s
    • vdva / 0x61766476, 48000 Hz, stereo
The PCM audio always converts without a hitch, but the VDVA audio can cause problems.
Running it through MPEG Streamclip or QuickTime Pro (Export to DV) seems to fix that.

I'm having the same issue, but my input audio says:
    pcm_s16be, 48000 Hz, mono, 768 kb/s

so it must be something else, at least in my case. Can anyone help? Thanks!

i get no audio from many output movies. i just wasted a whole night of computer time rendering a 3 hour video_ts folder with subtitles (that worked!) to avi. movie looks great. no audio though.
also tried making it into a new dvd, using both presets.
    suck.

What kind of audio (PCM/MP2/AC3/DTS) was in the VIDEO_TS ? How many audio streams were in the VIDEO_TS? Did you test the right audio stream being loaded, by using the Preview button in the bottom right of the Filters tab?
