The question is not which is correct, although you may comment on that if you want.
The question is how would you say it?
Substitute "Mary" with any name you wish.

Mary and me went for a drive.
Mary and I went for a drive.
Me and Mary went for a drive.
I and Mary went for a drive.

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

"Mary and I went for a drive" is grammatically correct.

"Me and Mary went for a drive" is how I say it.

Mary and I went for a drive.

As bourboner said, "Mary and I went for a drive." is grammatically correct, but I think the way the statement is said depends greatly on:
Where you are in the world
Where in the world you were born
Where in the world you've spent most of your time
Where in the world you learned to speak English (I'm assuming English is the langauge that the statement is being said in)

Not to deviate too far from the question, but has anyone else noticed how more and more people are pronouncing words that end in "dn't" (such as couldn't, shouldn't, wouldn't) so they sound like they they have left out the "d"? So couldn't sounds like "cou-nent" (I'm not even sure how you would spell the mispronounced words). Listen closely next time you are watching TV, or listening to the radio and you'll see (or rather you'll hear) what I mean.

    I'd say:
I took Mary for a "drive"
    If in doubt, Google it.

It wasn't the goal but a trend is developing:

More than one person may fit a category and more than one trait may fit a person.

Just as in real life so far, in no particular order:

We have the literalist (In a broad sense).
    We have the suspicious/cautious.
    We have the chauvinist
    We have the voucher/seconder/supporter
    We have the dreamer
    We have the subtle one
We have the liberalist (also in a broad sense)
    We have the educator
    We have the comedian.
    We have the analyst

You may privately attach the tags to the users yourselves.
