I am not an Alpine climber nor even remotely healthy enough to be one. Even so, I was a bit shocked to see that none of the network stations (or any cable station) in my area plans any special programming to honor the life of Sir Edmund Hillary ... the first man to summit Mt. Everest who died yesterday at age 88 in Auckland. A very good friend of mine is a retired climber who met with Hillary on a few occasions ... and I suspect this absence of remembrance shocks him even more.
Question - As I understand it, New Zealand plans a state funeral for Hillary. And because this is a "big deal" in New Zealand, I'm assuming this funeral will be aired on New Zealand television. If anyone living in New Zealand has a video capture card and could capture this state funeral service, burning it to a DVD (PAL is fine), I'll pay anything within reason (for time, trouble, shipping, handling) to have it sent my way. Please PM me if you can help me out on this.
P.S. Also, if there are any "remembrance" programs on Hillary that you could capture to DVD, I'd appreciate those, too.
Regards,
J. Alec West
