    Complete bullshit.

The movie producers are trying to scare people so they won't copy their movies.

If its only bullshit how come the dvdx guide on this site say using dvdx to rip could be bad for your hard drive right at the start it says it under PRE WARNING ripping straight from dvd could overheat your DVD rom............?

  4. ct911 probably didn't read your post correctly. The reason DVDx displays the warning is due to the fact that cycling your DVD-ROM on/off continously for hours could POSSIBLY damage your DVD-ROM drive's motor. The larger the buffer you set in DVDx the less on/off cycling will occur. If you're going to use a hard drive buffer you might as well just use Smart Ripper to copy the whole damn movie to your hard drive first and then DVDx won't have to read directly from your DVD-ROM anyway.

Using SmartRipper is recommended by me.

  5. Yeah but DVDx will convert to VCD or SVCD automatically. You can leave it overnight doing all the stuff and wake up the following morning all files are ready to be burned

  6. I can verify this is damaging to your dvd drive. After doing this a few times my dvd takes much longer to spin up now.

ie. I used to have no problem copying items from CD#3 and DVD Drive to BURNER. Now I can't because it takes so long for the DVD to spin up and become active I get a buffer underun. Previously this would not have been a problem.

  7. Well, u could enlarge the buffer size
