First time here. I will get right to the point. I did search the forum, but could not find what i was looking for. AllI want to do is convert 8mm film to0 cds. I received aPrimefilm 3650u for Christmas. What a pain staking operation that is.

What would you guys suggest? I was looking at the Canopus ADVC-100. What do you think?

    Any ideas would help.

    Thanks

the primefilm is just for 35mm i think. and one frame at a time. yuck. you're best bet is to send it out to a pro. there isn't any easy way to go from 8mm film to digital. the canopus would only help if it was videotape you were trying to convert. 8mm projectors don't have analog or digital outputs to input into the converter.

"couldn't find" There are plenty of topics about transfering 8mm film to disk.

    here's one :-

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic342617.html

Try searching for 'super 8' if 8mm does not produce hits.

But as the previous respondant has said, that scaner does 35mm slides not 8mm film

you are right, I did the 8mm and got few hits.

What do you guys think about the CineMate-15? Would you think that would do the trick.

So what you are saying the Canopus ADVC-100 is NOT going to do anything for me, since I have 8mm film.

One way to copy 8mm is to get an 8mm projector and projector screen and setup a camcorder on a tripod recording the screen and having the video outputs going to an advc-100,other way is to get one of those frame by frame devices that output 8mm video.

CineMate-15 probably works just fine, as long as you don't mind dropping a couple grand to transfer old silent family flicks. if it were me i might look into sending them off to a pro myself unless i had a few hundred to transfer.

    joe8915,

Ritz Camera can do it for you for a pretty cheap price. Check your local Ritz Camera. Good luck.
