  1. I posted this question on the Hardware players forum but got no answers so am trying here.

I can burn and play VCD's OK but have recently purchased a Pioneer DVR-A03. I can create my own DVD's but on my player (Samsung 511) I get lots of skips, especially with cheaper media. Expensive Pioneer media still skips but not as much. They all play fine on my PC. Therefore I am considering a new DVD player. I would appreciate anybodies experience with A03 produced DVD's, different brand media and their stand alone DVD player comptibilty.

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hi
The player your using is having a problem with the bitrate, i find this happens on a samsung player i,ve got but they play fine on a mitsubushi player i also have.
I gave a DVD movie to a friend to test on peoples dvd players and it worked fine on 95% of players ( mainly newer models ), its nothing to do with the media.

  3. I have same trouble.

After spending hours ripping , frameserving ,MPGzing , muxing , cutting ,
IMAGEzing and burning, I have a piece of crap in my hands ....

What occurs ? Sometimes, when watching a movie , suddenly the image dissolves and I can see a lot of "image squares" and all freeze, needed to power off my DVD player. Other times , the movie go to into a loop and again need to start my DVD.

Is Windows® installed in my DVD ???
    It´s my Philips 711 ? Or it´s my LG 16x burner,even using 4x speed ? Or that cheap nobrand CDR media ?

  4. I play DVDs, DVDr/w on my Pioneer A03 using generic and Pioneer. They play fine in my Panason, Sony and Apex players. No skips or any other problems. What program are you buring your DVDs and what video data rate are you using?

  5. Thanks for the replys guys
1st, bri@dprom, you say the player is having trouble with bitrates, what exactly do you mean. Do you think the bitrates are too high for theplayer?

    FYI
I create the MPG files using TMPGenc 12a using DVD templates modified from the supplied DVD(NTSC) template. I select Pal or NTSC depending on my source, set max bit rate to 8000, CQ65, 3:2 pulldown if required (from NTSC film source files) , DC precsion 10, High Quality, no other changes that I can remember. I usually use Tmpgenc for video only, extracting to audio to PCM .wav file using vdub. I then author and burn using Sonic MyDvd as supplied with the A03

Any further help would be greatly appreciated
