Depends , but I would say the issue is more than likely to be with your current gpu or its device drivers .

If the games your are installing note your current gpu, and system are fine , then update the gpu drivers .

    Then try again .

Some games are known to do this where onboard audio is used (no hardware buffers) .

You may need to enter the game setup menu and turn of shadows , fog mapping , run in 800x600 , really trim all the fancy settings right down , just to be able to get the games to run at all in some cases .

    Hi,

I have just downloaded the latest VGA drivers and have had no luck what so ever.
If it's any help my GFX thingy is a SiS-661FX.
Not sure what to do about GPU, how would i find what drivers i would need for GPU?
I tried also running it in 16bit colour and having the res as 640x something (it was the lowest) but still no luck there!
Got the refresh rate at 60 Herts dont know if that could be the problem?

    Thanks for your help mate.

    Hi mate.

I tried looking for Sis330 but it didnt seem to exist.
It seems the SiS-661FX drivers were correct.
    The game still aint working.
I am stuck as hell now.
    No idea what to do!
Was wondering if there was a patch out there to fix the issue with SiS Graphics cards mate.

    Thank you.

  6. SiS-661FX is the integrated chipset. If you're using its integrated graphics processor you'll find its performance is among the poorest. If this is a desktop you will probably need to add a real graphics card. If it's a laptop you'll need a new one.

    Check out the benchmarks:

It can't even complete the 3DMark05 tests.

Would you suggest buying a new graphics card?
If so it works out perfect as i do need one!
Can you recommend me an extrmeely good powerful graphics card with tv out and high definition tv out and that will handle pretty much every game thrown at it.

    Cheap as possible please

    Cheers.

  8. I don't keep close track of graphics cards but...

First you need to verify that you have a slot for a graphics card. Then you need to know whether its AGP or PCI Express. I believe the SiS chipset is fairly new so you will probably have a PCI Express slot.

Right now the nVidia 8800GT cards seem to offer good bang for the buck. Also the ATI Radeon HD 3870 and 3850. These are running in the US$170 to US$300 range.

Also be aware that the higher end graphics cards require a lot of power. You may need a new power supply too. And they may be rather loud (onboard fan) for a home theater PC.

As a reference, I have an ASUS EN8600GT Silent in my media PC. The card has two DVI ports (I have an LCD monitor and my LCD HDTV hooked up via a DVI-HDMI cable) and an s-video port. You can only use two of them at a time though. It is silent because it has no fan. I don't play many games on this computer but it's only about half as fast at games as the above mentioned cards when it comes to 3D games. I did install Bioshock just to see if it would run. At 1920x1080 it would run but was unplayable (<10 fps). At 1280x720 it was playable with some of the options turned down.

You also need to take into account your other hardware specs, such as cpu and RAM. (your computer details don't reflect your questions).

Since it is onboard video it shares system memory. Have you tried going into the BIOS and adjusting the memory allocated to the video card?

You're still better off getting a seperate video card and disabling the onboard garbage.
