  1. I was recently in a play and we recorded it... not that it's of any relevance to my question, but I just thought you'd like to know...... you didn't? oh well.

I am wanting to burn the play to a DVD for the cast and I to have so we can watch it and torture company when they come over. I want to really go overkill with it and have music during the main menu, chapter selection, subtitles (cause some of the chars talk quietly and you can't really hear what they say), a commentary track (yes, some of the cast members want to make a commentary) and even a gallery with pics from the play. Is there a single (and hopefully easy to use) authoring program that can do all of this?

Maybe not so simple. But you should be up to the task.

I would start with GUI for dvdauthor for a freeware solution. You may have to use a few other programs for the 'extras' you want.

Or for a few $$ DVDLab Pro may be able to do all this. Still requires a bit of study. A DVD menu and options are a fairly complex structure, whether using freeware or payware.

Both programs have guides on their tool pages. And we have other guides in our 'HOW TO,' 'Author' pages.

  3. Thanks, I'll look into those. I've tried authoring before, but the menus never turned out right.

Sorry, this will take a bit of reading and study, but consider it a learning experience. This is a list of guides for 'complex' DVD authoring. Many may not apply or are for other authoring programs, but all will teach you something and further your understanding of the process. https://www.videohelp.com/author#3;24

Most of our members that do this sort of process to author 'complex' DVDs use several programs. Some for graphics, some for audio tracks, some for menu setups. But if you master this, you can have professional looking DVDs. And it can all be done with freeware, if cost is a factor. But some of the pay programs may make it a bit easier.

  5. Thanks. Ya, cost is a factor, seeing as it was a community theater and we didn't get paid

Thanks, I'll take a look at the guides.
