I've never seen a CDR that looks the same as a professional audio CD. Nor have a seen a DVD-R that looks the same as real DVD movies that you buy.

Anyone know the exact brand that is used? Or is it not even available to the public? Hollywood must use the best media there is because I don't think real DVD movies are ever incompatible with dvd players (the way dvd-r can be).

    Thanks.

they aren't different because of a brand. it's a manufacturing process that uses a die(glass master) and press to make the 1's and 0's instead of a heat(laser) process that changes the reflectivity of a "burnable" dye.

Commercial dvd's you buy at the retail stores, rent, ect. are pressed, same for audio cd ect.
They are not recorded or burned with a laser like you do at home on your pc with dvdr media or cdr's.
