I am about to organize my home video miniDV tapes. I am going to creat a table and write down the time code.

What is the most accurate way to note the time code?:

1.) using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and play frame by frame

2.) using my miniDV camera (my video camera has a remote control and can play frame by frame)?

  2. Do you have Microsoft Excel?

If so, we have a new tool for logging DV tapes. It creates a list of timecodes for each scene on the tape (a so-called "edit decision list") but it also creates a "storyboard". In effect, a picture is saved for every 5 seconds of the video along with the time/date of recording and timecode.

You can build up a significant database and can see what's in each clip on the tape.

If you are interested, there is a user guide here:

The software isn't available publically yet but is available on request to anyone willing to test it.

Replying to your own topic to get it to the top is annoying. Try to have some patience, this is a bulletin board, not IRC. It may take some time (e.g., one or two days) before someone can answer your query or question.
