Vegas Studio 8 seems to be quite powerful for editing. If I wish to use it for DVD authoring by placing markers for chapters is it sufficient for this task or do I have to get Vegas DVD architect to produce a proper DVD. Thanks.

Yes, Vegas Studio is for editing videos. DVD Architect is for authoring a DVD. You would need DVD Architect or another similar program. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Vegas Movie Studio ships with DVD Architect Studio, which is more than enough for basic DVDs with still or motion menus.
