  1. I just upgraded to Nero 8. Great software, so far.

I am using Nero Vision to take some hi-def video encoded in DivX, authoring with the built-in menu templates in Nero Vision and burning the result on a single-layered DVD-R media. I encoded the video in PAL format by selecting that option in the setup for Nero Vision as the DVDs are intended for a friend in the UK (I am in the US).

After burning the disc, I watched the disks on my own DVD player and all seemed normal. I have an international multi-standard DVD player that indicates that PAL is being watched.

I then posted the DVD to my friend in the UK who said the disk won't play on their machine.
Now I'm stumped- wouldn't the standards for directory format (TS_VIDEO, etc....) be the same over there?
    Wondering what to try next.

    Has anyone else tried this?

Most all DVD players in Europe and the UK can play NTSC video with no problems. But your problem is more likely DVD media or player compatibility. What brand of DVD disc did you use? And if you know their brand and model of DVD player, that might help.

Yes, the directory format is the same for PAL or NTSC, AFAIK. Your friend might try the disc on other players. Also, when your friend says it won't play, what does it do? Eject the disc or just says there's either no disc or it's not a DVD disc?

Yes, probably the brand of disk. Or some players just hate burned, as opposed to pressed, DVDs.

Does he have a DVD drive in his PC? Can he play it in that? If it's a burner, he could dupe it to another brand and try that in the player.
