This evening, I was hard at work, typing away at a response to a discussion taking place in
one of the forums here. And while I was at it I was distracted by what sounded like scratching
or gnawling inside my dining/kitching room of my apartment. I'm on the 2nd floor. Anyway.

In the area that I heard this, was an old area where I had a professional come in to clear out
some serious bee nest that broke through the void in my wall. That's what the guy told me.
Anyway. long story short, it was a huge bee hive nest, and where those bees have dug out a
tiny pee size hold to escape from. That lead to my dinning room. Now when the prof. came
and rid them (by using some kind of long thin tube and sticking it inside the same pee hold)
he put up a gray masking tape. I left it there ever since. And that was almost 3 HOT summer
years ago. Now, it's dead of winter, and 20 degrees out, and I'm hearing these scrapping or
scratching sounds as if something is digging its way through or something. And I'm afraid that
it will find (it has found) the softer wall board from that past bee experience where they cause
the wall board to become damp or soft) Anyway. I figure it dried up and got hardened or some
thing. But, now I got these new visitors (pests) and I'm afraid I might be in for another ride.

My place isn't exactly the cleanest around, mind you. And I do leave some food around, like
bread; or cereal boxes; or rice bags; etc. I wonder if they are smelling it, or coensidense that
its very cold and they are rooming around. I don't know. I know that the only time I do hear
these odd things is during the winter months, but only when its really cold, like today, its 20
degrees or colder, outside. I don't know. All I do know is that this is bothering me all of
    the sudden.

Now, where they are digging/scratching at is at the top of the roof. Actually, there's an attic
on top of me, but it's still the roof, from my perspective. But they or it is scratching at that
top location. But I can't help and wonder, if this pest digs through it, what will its intention
be, if its 12 feet in the air ?? I mean.. it doesn't have rubber suction cups on. Can it tell
that its that high in the air, and realize its not a good idea to 'jump' down ?? I don't know.

But, I'm thinking, get some sticky tape and run it along all the areas that I think it might fall or climb
around or visit to. I don't know. I'm confused

Sign, new visitor in the walls, for the holidays. Now I know who's been eating all the cookies left
for Santa when I was child, hehe..

You know. I had forgotten why I original wrote this post for.

After reading the website page I left the link to, I couldn't help but wonder
if its that dangerous to touch or have anything left evidense 'wise around
that the mouse/mice were at, then why would you want to expose a cat to it
and then -- hear's the kisser -- touch/pet/hug/snuggle up to the cat ??

    I'm confused, yet again

    ...

Ok. I was sitting here, thinking, some more..

We have outdoor cats that came form nowhere. They've been around our build complex
for the last 5 years, maybe. Anyway. I've offten wundered with regards to the mice, why
haven't I heared or seen any mice around the building or inside the building, for that matter.

Then it just dawned on me, while typing my latest post.. its because of the cats outside
You see, they've been keeping the mouse/mice count down to maybe next to zero. All
except for that one that seem to have gotten away, and up in my wall., I think.

Well, for what its worth, I seem to have managed to stop the scratching sounds. I sprayed
that area of the wall with roach spray. Between doing that, and yes, Grawling at the wall
and Scratching it the sounds have all but stopped.. so far !!

Well, its been over a week now. And it hasn't sounded, except for the other night.
It scratched around a minute, and then stopped. But there's a catch. Well, sort of.
It would seem that it has now made its way to the center of the beam (near my
dinning room window) So, all that clawing around was prob to break through a barrier
to reach across the other side. Anyway. Obviously and logically, it was prob scratching
through the day/night when I was not around to hear. And, the prev spraying of the
wall with roach spray.., I can't be sure if that did or did not help. But, it did seem to
stop for nearly two weeks, so maybe it did work. I don't know. I'm just trying to egnor
the fact that I have a holiday visitor and that on occasion, when its really cold, it comes
out looking for porage or more room. Go figure. But its been ok so far.

Lets see, so how does that passage go..

"..not a creature was stiring, not even a mouse" ??

I deal with this every year after the first major rain. The little rodents get 'drowned' out of their holes and head for drier and warmer places. I understand their problems, but I have my own.

I use D-con. (Wharfarin) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warfarin It dehydrates the little devils and they go elsewhere to find water to quench their thirst. With luck, they don't return.

You can't really keep them out, it's their nature. But you can control them. They can gnaw through electrical cables or plastic plumbing at times and cause some major problems. Best to control them.

But what's this to do with video, unless you plan to video tape them and edit to a full length rodent video?
