    Please help a newbie!

I am trying to edit old home videos and put them on DVDs for my family for Christmas. My videos are on old Video 8 cassettes. I am playing them on a Video 8 player and capturing the video through my Pinnacle HDTV Pci card. Unfortunately the Pinnacle software (Pinnacle TVCenter Pro) only records captured video to MPEG4 or Divx format, and both formats aren't supported with Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0. I have tried Videozilla to convert the video to .avi but that took forever and didn't work in the end.

I am looking for a good (preferably free ware) DVD writing software where I can burn the MPEG4 or Divx file straight to a DVD (in standard DVD format) and then I will capture the DVD just written in Premiere Elements for editing, organizing and menu formation.

Thank you for your time and help!

There are several free divx to dvd software, FAVC, DVD Flick, dvdforger and https://www.videohelp.com/tools?listuser=&orderby=Type&s=35#35 . But it's as as slow to reconvert to for example dv-avi using Virtualdub, that you can edit in premiere element.

And are you sure that divx wont work in premiere elements? Have you tried install the divx codec from divx? What is the error msg in premiere elements when you import?
