There are too many products and too many methods out there for the novice photographer to achieve what i want. i bought a dell dvd r/rw burner and installed it myself to burn my photos on a dvd disc which would allow me to play them on my tv screen through my inexpensive dvd player.
my first call to the tech desk said i bought the wrong product and should have bought a +-R/RW burner. when i went to order this equipment i was told to check compatability of my present dvd player to see if it handled DivX. now im really confused? im a photo enthusiast that just wants to share photos on my tv screen?

Burned my photos on dvd disc
Most dvd players supports jpgs on a cd but maybe not on a dvd disc. If you want best dvd compatibility make a dvd or vcd slideshow using for example Photodex Proshow. -
Some DVD players support playing JPG files. Your failure could be a lot of things. We don't have enough info to know. Possible problems could be:
1) Your DVD player doesn't play JPG files at all (most don't, especially older players)
2) Your DVD player doesn't like your media brand, type of media (ie. it perfers DVD+R and you used DVD-R or vice-versa, older players may not play DVD+RW and DVD-RW at all, etc.)
3) Your DVD player does play JPG files, but only on CD media
4) You didn't burn the disc correctly - not data disc format, not finalized, etc.
I wouldn't pay attention to Dell's help desk at all. Sanjay probably is just telling you something to get you off the phone ASAP rather than making an honest effort to fix your problem.
Divx has nothing at all to do with problem.
