I'd post a pic showing how I was hypnotized, but it isn't allowed here.
-
well go post it where it is allowed then!!!!!!!
I can't see how people can be hypnotised but if it is true then why don't hypnotists take advantage by getting them to rob banks or be their sex slaves for example?
rubbish if you ask me :P -
then again I sometimes think people in the forums are hypnotised to be twats
. I can't believe some of the shit some people come out with

I never believed it until a friend of mine was hypnotized at a show. He is a very reserved guy and some of the stuff he did, there is just no way he ever would have done that under normal circumstances. I don't think its really that hard to believe, just about everyone has accidentally hypnotized themself by looking at the median line too long while driving. As complex as our minds are they are extremely easy to fool and manipulate.

I seen one once at a banquet. He started out by saying that he wasn't really all that good and that he could only hypnotize about half of the people in the audience. So he picked like ten or twelve folks from the crowd and started his act. His act it turns out was to hypnotize about half of the audience where they sat!
It was funnier than anything I had ever seen. I missed a short part of the begining (Potty call) and credit that to my not becoming a victom. He had people in the audience beleiving that the person to their right had really bad body oder and people where scooting left and vise versa. He had people folding napkins and sucking on spoons and wearing their ties like head bands. The laughter from the ones that weren't hypnotized was so loud that I could not even hear him talking, but the ones that were hypnotized could apparently hear everything that he said as he kept telling them to do other things. I ain't sure how it worked, but I think that the ones that were hypnotized were seeing all of the others doing stupid stuff and not knowing that they were doing it too.
I have told this to other people and they act like I have seen a flying saucer and refuse to beleive it. I only hope that I was really not one that fell for it. It almost needs to be against the law.
I would guess that 75 to 100 people were hypnotized into folding their napkins into hats and putting them on their head. I am talking about the process of taking a group of people and demostrating how to fold a hat and having them actually do it and have every one of them beleive that they didn't do it.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
It all pure Steer Turds.
What you see on stage only works because the audience member in question is willing to play along.
Its not real. -
No way man. If you ever saw a real hypnotist you'd believe. Like I said, my friend was most definitely not in on it...he had no idea of what the show was before we went and he was extremely suprised and embarrassed when he got picked to be a participant. He's probably the most shy guy I know and he was up there singing and dancing. The stuff they were doing was hilarious and out of maybe 20 of those chosen not a single one ever laughed. They sold tapes of it and we showed it to our friend afterwards and he was absolutely amazed, sincerely.
No smoke and mirrors, the human mind is just incredibly impressionable when we are in a deep state of relaxation. -
I have developed a terrible habit of grinding my teeth. So far I haven't been able to stop, so I might go to a hypnotist and see if that helps. As long as I'm there, maybe he can help me loose a little weight, too. I wonder if I should take along a wittness???
-
I wonder if hypnosis is real or whether it is just very convincing to make people believe that they have been hypnotised and therefore must stop doing something/start doing something. Either way, I do not coubt that it works, but I am wondering how it does.
I also heard that hypnosis wears off after time - is this true? -
I went to a 'quit smoking' hypnotism one time in a group (about 200 ppl), was the biggest joke I had ever seen. IMHO
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0 -
beer is hypnotising as I start doing funny and stupid things after looking through the bottom of a few empty glassess

Cobra that's what the debate is about. Some argue hypnosis is an altered state, in other words the brain is actually affected by whatever they hypnotist does. There is actually some medical evidence of this as they saw chemical changes in hypnotized subjects. But the other theory is that people, whether they realize it or not, want it to work so badly that they just believe that it does. But either way, when it works it works.

Altered states of consciousness can already be observed in patients with some types of schizophrenia , catatonia and automatism as well as those treated with mind altering drugs.
It is not so far fetched to believe that other levels of consciousness can be achieved outside the use of drugs or via mental disease. -
Yes I have been hypnotized.
A BIG word of caution to anyone concidering it.
The profession claims that you will not and can not be made to do anything that you would normaly do. Which in realty is anything.
Whatever you may "say" you would not do, you really would under some circumstance and that circumstane can be part of the hynotic state or post hypnotic suggestion.
Careful consultation and scripting of any post hypnotic suggestion needs to be done with he hynotest with careful concideration given to your state of mind and the way that YOU may interrupte the suggestions.
Been there, done that, paid the price. -

Hypnosis DOES work
An ex GF i had learned it, and after practicing got really good at it. Recently she even helped make the online reviews on hypnosis for the site I put in my siggy.
Turns out that:- Almost everybody can be hypnotized, unless you're mentally ill or mentally retarded.
- If you are unwilling to be hypnotized, you cannot be hypnotized. However, with NLP (something Language Programming) you can be influenced in many cases to do stuff you normally wouldn't.
Besides getting ppl to do really stupid things, she got me to have sex with her, and then we dated for a while. She did this thru hypnotizing me, as before that i NEVER had sex with a girl. DID get chances, but and never agreed.
If you think her hypnotizing me just gave me an excuse to try her without admitting I like girls too - fine, but it wasn't like that. I did secretly like girls before, but I really didn't want to go that way.
You make up your own mind, but as I said - i Know it works! And one thing's for sure - it's F U N ! -

Those that don't can simply use beer as there tool of 'hypnostism' as that will work with most guys who don't fall for the usual methods
(don't be shy and put your hands up if you've been hypnotised that way? :P
uts hand up
I'm not saying that everyone is gullible but there are people who if you tell them something stupid then they will fall for it or do it. If that wasn't the case then spam emails asking for bank details etc wouldn't exist, sales people wouldn't be getting huge bonuses selling crap to people who walk into the stores and finally the iPod and all the other hyped over priced iCrap would be as rare as a Dodo
I can see that people in this thread have seen people hypnotised but again it's all down to the individual being gullible/impressionable. So it's still rubbish if you ask me and it's simply very impressionable/gullible people being taken advantage of. I do it myself to slight degree. I can get someone to suggest something I actually want them to do by planting ideas etc into their head. Once they suggest it then I know it's job done as they think they came up with that thought themselves. Basically it's 'power of suggestion' and this guy is brilliant at it 8) but sadly I wouldn't fall for most of it and I doubt he would if he went to see someone similar

Wow, a two year gap in post, kind of makes me wonder.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
Many people are not susceptible to hypnosis .. or things like subliminal ads.
You have to have a certain kind of perception to fall for it.
If you tried hypnosis on me, I'd just fall asleep. I wouldn't be hypnotized into doing anything, I'd be asleep. All you'd need to do is wake me up, no finger snapping required.
I also see subliminal ads, so I won't fall for them. (And at most, it'll be a vague effect when it does work. A subliminal Coca-Cola ad might make you thirsty, but you're just as likely to drink water or Pepsi, as you would go buy a Coca-Cola.)

I have been. I went to a show at a local club and there was a hypnotist performing. You may have heard about him. Richard Cole.
Anywho, my friend brought him camcorder and recorded it. When Cole asked the crowd "any volunteers," I of course pointed to my friend. To which Cole ignored and told me to come up on stage. DOH.
He made me do some crazy stuff. Included are:
- he convinced me I was a dictator and had to give a speech in english with a german accent. The speech was pretty silly itself but the accent was quite hilarious.
- the typical "pretend to be a chicken on stage."
- auditioning for a voiceover role in a documentary about the mating rituals of ants (the things my brain came up with)
- calling up another girl on stage, having us both imagine the best orgasm we have ever had individually then comparing what it might be like if we had one 10 times as strong together. We were sitting on chairs next to one another. When he snapped his fingers, I fell off the chair and was rolling around on the floor, convulsing and moaning quite loudly. I then said "Oh my god, I cant feel my toes." She started "riding the chair" and was writhing a hell of a lot. lol Ooops.
Anywho, it was really a good time. He didnt do the whole "when I snap my fingers you will wake up and forget everything" thing. I remember everything. I even sort of remember "seeing" myself do these things but was unable to control or stop myself.
