i bought one today mostly because I wanted to play divx movie but everytime i put a dvd in the dvd player does not recognize it. I used to have a philips dvp642 and it worked perfectly fine for 2 years. Are there any hacks or something i can do to get it to play divx. If not I guess i'll have to sell it.

I know this is not what you want to hear, and feel free to call me an A $$ but there are reviews on the site that tell you if the DVD player plays Divx.

I would honestly return it, and get the Samsung HD960. I know this plays Dvix because i have watch hundreds on it. In fact i have watch more burned DVDs that have Divx on them then regular DVDs.

I know where you are coming from, i bought 3 DVD players before i bought this one. I can honestly say its the best DVD player iv owned and personally seen.

GO ahead and read some reviews (including mine)

If it doesn't recognize the disc, then you are likely using a media type that it doesn't support. You may need to try a different type (+R or -R) or you may need to try a different brand.
