You can read your manual for NeroVision Express to see if it supports a First Play option (this is what the feature is called), or you can buy a real authoring tool instead of the toy that is NVE, or you can author with NVE without the first play clip, and add it in later using PGCEdit.

There are free options that allow first play... DVDauthorGUI is one...

You'll need a separate encoder though...

I like DVD Lab Pro, but GUIForDVDAuthor is powerful and well supported, especially for a freeware program. The author is frequent visitor here, so your queries will be answered quickly by the person who knows the software best.

  7. The possible advantage for the OP in using TmpgEnc DVD Author 3 is that it can encode much like NVE so the OP could do it all in one step.

My brother wanted a simple easy to use and free way to create DVDs so to avoid having to do tech support, I showed him NVE. He's happy and I don't have to do support.

Myself I'm lazy so I've been using Tmpgenc products from Plus, Xpress 3 and TDA 1.5 and TDA 3 for most things I want. TDA 3 especially for Ultra Divx. TDA 1.5 for compliations.

No encoder, you need to feed it DVD compliat video.

Another option is DVD Workshop, pricey, getting old. But it does have onboard MPEG2 and AC3 encoding, minor editing capability, accepts just about any type of video or imges, very easy to use and tons of authoring features.

No. DVD Lab Pro is an authoring tool, not a file converter.

I remember doing this once. If I recall correctly I authored the intro(VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders) and added the intro to the already authored DVD(the one that I want to place the intro into) with PGCEdit and/or VOBEdit?
I can't find the guide though....

You cannot animate buttons under the DVD specification. You do have a couple of choices for work-arounds, depending on the effect you want to achieve.

if you just want buttons that animate all the time, create them in a video package and export a short looping video clip. Use this as the background for a motion menu, and you are done.

if you want the buttons to change when a user selects an option then you need to create a switched menu. There are guides at MediaChance.com for various switched menus for DVD Lab Pro, and there is a switched menu wizard and reasonable discussion about in the manual.

I cant seem to burn the complied files that dvd lab creates.... i tried the internal burner, and i tried nero express... i even tried saving the project as a disc image... and nero wont burn that either... it just says "burn failed illegal disc".... WHAT SOFTWARE DO YOU USE TO BURN THE DVD AFTER YOUR DONE CREATING IT???

If imgburn can't burn you must have some strange dvd writer.

Maybe try yet another burning tool like Cdburnerxp but I'm not sure if it can make dvd-video.

ok people... i uninstalled nero 7 and reinstalled nero 6... AND i got nero vision 3 to author and burn successfully...so im assuming that nero 7 was the problem somehow

at first when i reinstalled nero 6 i got an error message saying "file advrcntr2.dll could not be found"... so i did a search and found that i had to delete a certain folder from my program files folder......path C:/program files/common files/ahead

of course it was the ahead folder i had to delete, then i reinstalled nero 6 again after this process, then nero vision 3 worked as it did before i installed nero 7 (nero vision 4 comes with nero 7) so i authored a dvd and it worked....
now im gonna try to use nero vision (not nero vision express... just plain nero express) to burn the video ts folder files that i created in dvd labpro... so ill let you guys know how it goes....

can anybody think of anything that i could be doing wrong when compiling in dvd labpro (such as important check boxes or settings that may throw some anomolies in the compiled files)

also.... when ever i open a mpg in dvd labpro... it says it detects open g o p's... i have no idea what that means....
just so you know... i edit and then render my videos to mpeg 2 dvd ntsc (audio is mp3 48000 khz) with SONY VEGAS 6... i went to the help files within vegas... and typed in g o p in the search engine... and it found no results

    what does open g o p 's mean ???

    GOT IT!!!!

I GOT IT TO BURN THE COMPILED DVD LABPRO FILES!!!

I USED NERO EXPRESS (FROM NERO 6) ... NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH VISION EXPRESS WHICH is the actual authoring tool from nero

nero express is the one that handles all video files

i guess when i installed nero 7 it messed everthing up.. but when i reinstalled nero 6 everything worked... first play worked... everything!!!..... i even made my animated menu!!

    thanks everyone!!!
