I recently upgraded to vista and dvd santa has stopped functioning. The software does not recognise my dvd writer, it reports that it cannot find it. I reinstalled dvd santa and it worked for one burn. The next time I opened santa it failed to find the writer again.
Anybody have any ideas as I'm not gonna uninstall and reinstall every time i want to burn a disc.

    Peace

That app has never been at (or even near) the top of my list, but since it's a commercial app, you should be entiteled to some support from the manufaturer, I'd think?

You're not gonna want to hear this, but that sums up your problem pretty well. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER "upgrade" to a new Microsoft OS until AFTER the first service pack comes out. NEVER. You violate that rule, this is what happens.

At the official website it doesn't say anywhere that DVDSanta will work in Vista. So you made a mistake by "upgrading" and that's why it doesn't work. I'm not kidding.

Geez, I can't stand people that put down Vista just for the sake of it.

  5. From the DVD Santa Site FAQs...

"How do I run dvdSanta under Windows Vista?

dvdSanta 4.50 supports Windows Vista. However, you need to run dvdSanta as administrator in order to access your DVD burner. Just right click the dvdSanta icon on the desktop, select "Run as administrator" to launch dvdSanta. "

    Could this be the problem?
    Cheers

    Thanks I'll try that later.

The reason I upgraded was because i built a new machine and wanted to look at the new operating system.

I can alway go back to XP if i wish.

    Thanks TBoneit

I ran DVD SANTA as administrater. It finds my DVD writer now every time.

    Thanks TBoneit.

I use DVD santa to burn images or VIDEO_TS folders because it is fast and one click. It also converts avi to vob but quality is not as good as say Freeenc or nero for that matter.
