Does anyone know if the LG DN788 plays divx?

According to this site it does http://www.dvdcity.com/codefree/lg-dn788.php

There is no mention of it on LG's site or the user manual.

I have an insignia made by LG that plays divx but does not upconvert and I really love
the menus and long file names. I have not found any other player (Pioneer DV400, Phillips DVP5982) that has USB,
upconvert and divx that comes close.

    Thanks

The failure of both LG's website and manual (I looked at both) to mention Divx is most troubling. Neither shows any support for VCD/SVCD either. Almost certainly dvdcity is dead wrong about this player. If this player supports Divx and the manufacturer and the manual don't mention it, then it's a first for me.

Upconverting is seriously overrated. If your TV is good enough it's not necessary to have an upconverting player. In fact, many HD TVs do a better job of upconverting than cheap DVD players do.
