I have just purchased a new computer for my business and asked the guy who put it together if he could set it up so I could do video editing of my home movies and Burn them to VCD to play on my Toshiba sd-1300 DVD stand alone. I have been reading the articles on this site for days now and I'm just so confused. The computer came with Easy Cd creator platinum 5 installed & direct CD for backup of our company data. I have tried to create a VCD using video impression to edit the captured avi & then video cd to burn my VCD. The resulting VCD would play on my pc using the power DVD software & in media player when I open the file in it. But it won't play on my DVD player which is VCD & CD-R, CD-RW compatable. I have also tried to load NERO 5.5 with its its latest updates on my machine (just nero not incd) but it causes conflicts with easy cd and causes the DVD ROM and CDRW drives to not function correctly. I have removed easy cd off my machine & loaded NERO & INCD in its place but it causes my computer to blue screen on restart and I have to go in safe mode to remove it. I've only metioned my NERO problem because I've read a lot on this site and NERO is quite often reccommended to burn VCD with but I may not be able to use it. I'm not the smartest person I know and the following info doesn't mean a whole lot to me but I was hoping some one could tell me what I'm missing to make my VCD work.
MY MACHINE SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS.
    Intel p-4D845W Full ATXM/M Intel P4-1.5GHZ ATC FC-PGA 400FS 512MB SDIM 1044FDD Seagate 40GB 7200RPM RIVA TNT2 M64 AGP VAG (32MB) Aopen KF45A For p4 System Aopen DVD- ROM 16X48 DYNALINK TVT+VID CC+FM TV card.ACER CDRW 16X10X40.
Software = EASY CD CREATOR PLATINUM 5
I have a analouge video recorder which I can plug into the TV capture card using the composite line in or the tv arial socket. Both metods capture the video footage as an avi file which will play in media player or Video impressions in easy cd creator.
I've read about codec's and gone right through the guides on this site over & over again and I'm just confused. When I read the help files on easy cd it leads me to beleive that it is all I need to create a VCD. I have gone to the Easy CD creator (Roxio) forum and read posts and placed a post but no answers yet. The roxio forum's main topic of disscussion is Audio and thankfully I've been able to burn MP3 & CDA CDS and play them successfully on my Toshiba DVD player.
Can anyone tell me what I still need to add to my set up to succesfully burn a VCD that will play on my DVD stand alone?

  2. Had to have a Toshiba DVD Player huh ? oh well

First I suggest you check the compatibility of your DVD Player on the DVD Players list, that way you'll be able to see exactly where the problem is.

Secondly, EZ CD sucks! big time!, the problem you had with Nero and EZ CD is the fault of EZ CD's DirectCD, it causes problems with everything, so no matter what you select, make sure DirectCD is either Disabeled or REMOVED

Lastly, use TMPGEnc to encode your AVI's to standard VCD mpeg1 files, and i'd recommand either TSCV or VCDEasy to author and burn your VCD's, it will provide you with greater compatibility then both EZ and Nero.

  3. sefy's right. u could also try using roxio video pack 5. that also works pretty well. but before u start doing burnin and encoding with tmpgenc to mpeg, u should check ur dvdplayer on the compatibility list.

  4. mr boo bubber u should check again nero site maybe dload page (nero has a special support for mutiple cd writing software. but u need to chck out the site there is solution on www.nero.com

goto www.tmpeg.com dload latest 2.51 software to encode mpg files and load the pal or ntsc VCD template (*.mcf)

for VCD resolution is 352*288 MPEG 1. since you have a DVD player you could try capturing at 480*576 MPEG 2 -(good quality) and burn it as SVCD.

by the way ur pc config is superb- just the right for making mmovies and other heavy stuff. tell me how do u cool off ur seagate 40GB gets heated very fast- i have the same one.

post reply as soon as possible.
