Rosie's Open Book?
Tuesday January 29 09:46 PM EST
In Rosie O'Donnell's upcoming memoir, talk TV's purported Queen of Nice talks about the death of her mother, being gay, her estrangement from her father...Er, wait a second, rewind on that second item...
Is Rosie officially coming out?
That's what the wags have been wagging about for weeks, first in the supermarket tabs, then on Sunday in the New York Daily News, when a source was quoted as saying that, in O'Donnell's Find Me, due out April 23, the comedian "talks about her relationships with women and having a girl breaking her heart in college."
O'Donnell's camp hasn't denounced the reports. It hasn't confirmed them, either, opting to describe the book as a "personal journey." Her publisher, Warner Books, did not return a call for comment.
In Publishers Weekly, the book world's trade mag, a sales rep earlier this month said, "Folks will be very surprised by this book." She described it as hinging on a phone call O'Donnell received from a young girl.
As of today, Find Me had cracked the Top 250 on Amazon.com's sales rankings--not bad for a book still three months away from hitting stores. (By comparison, Michael J. Fox's autobiography, Lucky Man, also due in April, was ranked 62,677.)
For many fans of the comedian, a "Yup, I'm Gay" revelation would not exactly qualify as a revelation. While O'Donnell herself hasn't talked up her private life (kid stories, and a professed Tom Cruise crush, notwithstanding), there have been plenty of others who have done so for her since her talk show made her gossip-worthy in 1996. The tabs, of course, have been running stories on Rosie's "gay secret" for years. Even New York magazine got in the act last year, actually chiding her for not being more open about being a lesbian.
But how closeted has O'Donnell been? At last May's Daytime Emmy Awards, she flat-out dedicated her award for best talk-show host to her constant companion, Kelli Carpenter. "This is for Kelli...I love you."
And to USA Today last year, O'Donnell said, "I've never denied or confirmed anything. I've never felt the need to...I don't think there will ever be some big press conference to announce anything about my private life."
Not surprisingly, then, the News' mole says O'Donnell doesn't make a big deal about "coming out" in Find Me: "She's very matter-of-fact about it."
O'Donnell is expected to promote the book big time on her talk show before retiring this spring and handing over the mike to Caroline Rhea (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch).

I wish that bitch would get back in the closet and never come out. The problem is, she's too fat to fit in any closet.

And we need to waste VCDHelp's bandwidth and storage for this kind of trash, because????????
Grow up! -
@JimJohnD ... don't waste your time -- yes we have bandwidth problems and yes it's such a big problem that it causes the board to shut down at times but no matter HOW HARD you argue that 'Off Topic' should be killed FOREVER ... it's not going anywhere.
I have no idea why - I've argued this point a million times - 'Off Topic' adds nothing and takes so much -- but it stays.
I should add that I know I just added to the wasted bandwidth but I wanted to let JimJohnD know not to waste his time (no matter how logical his argument is) and yes I will not ever reply to this post (don't troll for me)your pal,
Stinky
