    Hi,

I've got a dvd that has german and dutch speaking actors but the rest of the cast is english and american.

Now when these german and dutch actors speak, subtitles appear with the english translation of what they are saying.

What i want to know is it possible to keep these subtitles in the movie but take the rest of of the subtitles out of it.

So that i have a movie with the subtitles for the german and dutch speaking parts but the rest of the movie is subtitle free.

Any help would be most welcomed

    Thanks in advance

  2. Marvel,

Is this normally an option on the DVD? That is, English subtitles ONLY when the German and Dutch actors are speaking?

If so, you can subtitle this VCD as you normally would with no hassle. If you play your DVD on a software DVD player (e.g., PowerDVD) you may notice that apart from "English" subtitles, there may be one further down called "English2". This one may be the subtitle you are looking for.

This is actually quite common in DVDs. For example, in the Star Trek films, when someone starts speaking in a alien language, subtitles will come up but at no time else. Another example is in "The Mummy" at the beginning when the actors are speaking in ancient ?Egyptian.

The easiest way to rip subtitles is to rip the entirely of the relevant vobs (i.e., use "File Mode" with SmartRipper or use DVD Decryptor). Then load up the IFO with FlaskMPEG (either the latest preview version of v0.594). Then, choose the relevant video, audio and subtitle stream.

    Regards.
