When using the standard SuperVideoCD(NTSC) template n TMPGE I get OK results except the aspect ratio on my TV makes the video look taller than original. When I change the size of the video to 720x480 the aspect ratio is normal but blockiness becomes more noticeable in my video. Here are some of the specifics I am using. Sony digital 8 camcorder captures using Sony laptop DVgate Motion. TMPGE ver2.5 loading the standard SuperVideoCD (NTSC) template except I change the Motion search precision to High Quality. CBR is set to 2520, Encode mode Interlace, and the audio MPEG1-224. Burned using Nero version 5.564 on a 4x CDRW. I am playing the video on a Pioneer DV-440. When I encode the video using the standard DVD template there is no blockiness when viewed on my laptop. The scene I am comparing is a picture of my son in a pool and the water has noticeable blocks in the scenes on SVCD’s. Any suggestions to increase the quality without buying a DVD-R would be appreciated.
