How do i trim an avi without all that re encoding? I just want the end of the movie cut, which contains all that credits, so I dont think those software needs to record the entire avi, just cutting the ending part of the file. Which software does this?

  2. If you want to use Virtualdub, be sure to set audio and video to "direct stream copy" to avoid reencoding. If you want to cut on non-keyframe position you shoud use virtualdub 1.7 or later and use "smart rendering".

There is an additional tool for VirtualDub called "Cut Assistant" which you could use.

Not only that but the output files in the default "full processing mode" create unwieldy 4 GB+ files.

it's fast with virtualdub but takes 10 mins, isnt there a simple way just to cut the end credit off from selected time?

  6. Save it to a different hard drive. And, no, you can't just cut the end off. You have to resave the part you want to keep.
