    Hey everyone

I am trying to copy a friend's homemade DVD that was recorded from a DVD camcorder.
I would normally just copy it 1-1 but apparently it's not that simple...
I'ts recorded on one of those mini dvds that holds 1.4gb, plus its a dvd-rw on top of that.
I try to copy all the files over to reburn and it wont read one of them, read errors or something.

So now I have a couple VOBs, IFOs, and BUPs in the VIDEO_TS folder, including the partial VOB file, where the rest was unreadable. All VOBs play fine in media player classic.
And also from the disc I have a DCIM folder with a folder inside that called 100MSDCF, containing some jpeg files.
Then I just loaded the folders into IMGBurn, burned it, and the resulting DVD doesnt play at all.

I figured it was the partial VOB file, which does play fine in media player classic. Nevertheless, I demuxed it and remuxed it with TMPGenc which wrote it a new file header, which I figured was a good idea.

Reburned it all using the same IFO and BUP files from the original DVD for this partial VOB file.
Again the DVD didnt work at all. Maybe I have to make a new IFO for the VOB file I altered?

The strange thing about this DVD are the VIDEO_TS files; VIDEO_TS.VOB, VIDEO_TS.IFO, and VIDEO_TS.BUP.
the VIDEO_TS.VOB seems to be just a slideshow of each of the images in the DCIM\100MSDCF folder.
TMPG DVD author doesnt recognize this as a valid file.

As a last resort I was just going to demux all the VOBs to M2V and AC3 and let TMPG DVD Author deal with it.
but that would fudge all the pictures and the slideshow file, which Im not sure that TMPG DVD Author can handle anyway.

What on earth? is there something I'm missing here? Ive never had such an issue making a DVD in my life.
    Thanks in advance.

  2. File structure may not be valid, I would convert Vobs to MPG and then re-author.

    Sound may be non-standard.

The Jpeg files are stored in standard still camera directories, is there any content other than a slideshow of these pictures? That may also be not completely standard.

If all there is consists of a slideshow, I would just make a new one from the JPG files and chuck the VOB structure. And chuck the RW disk, after getting all data, because of the read error.

Was the disk finalized? That could be the cause of the error.

    thanks for the input.
and there was no other content on the disc besides the jpegs, vobs, ifos, bups...
I was too lazy to make a new slideshow, all I ended up doing was making sure the video files were correct, copied the slideshow vob file and all the pictures onto the disc, and burned with IMGBurn.
The slideshow didnt work, but the videos were fine, so be it as I spent way too much time on this already
