Hey I got a Sony MiniDV Camcorder and the Firewire part of the camera does not work right. On my computer I have an A/V input thing on it and a S-video thing too, so I was wondering if I could capture video off my camcorder through it with an A/V cable instead of Firewire... Also, would the quality be better than firewire? I dont have an A/V cable with me at the moment to try this out so I thought I would ask here before I went and bought one...

A better description of both the "thingy" and the "doohickey" would allow for a better answer than "it depends on the configuration of your Johnson Framistats".
Quite possible the S-Video jack is for output, not input.
In any case, compared to Firewire, NO, it will most definitely not look better. Firewire is an exact digital copy, the capture you propose is a real-time analog conversion. Major difference.
