A friend tried to install some software and the installation failed. In annoyance she trashed the CD but now it's a problem in that her computer keeps wanting to try to install the software. A window pops up and requests that the CD be inserted in the drive so that the installation can proceed but of course it can't as the CD is just in so many bits in the rubbish bin.
Does anyone have any idea as to how I can stop this installer from continuously retrying?
Details:
OS - Windows 2000 SP4
Software concerned - Symantec antivirus, not sure of exact version but it was in the ver 10 range.
Mobo - Matsonic MS7142A
Memory - 128Mb
Any more info needed I will be happy to supply.

You can go to registry (start-run-regedit) and remove all the remaining entries for that program and do search for remaining files on the c: drive and remove them also.
