Hey, this is my first post at this forum. I used to ask all my video questions over at SimplyDv.co.uk before it closed the forum (I was Linkman59). Anyone here from SimplyDV? This looks like a very helpful website though, I'm glad I found this website!
I've been making some long DVDs, editing them with Ulead Video Studio, making the menu with Ulead DVD Workshop, and burning them using ImgBurn.
Every single DVD I burn starts to corupt at about the end of the video. There all about 2 hours long and start to corupt at about 1:30 or 1:45.
Thanks for any help!![]()

It could be a media problem. Have you tried different media?
www.nomorecoasters.com and www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
And welcome to our forum! -
Yes, that really sounds like a "bad media" problem. Questionable media shows its weakness at the outer edge of the disk - which I habitually try to avoid, by never having more than 4.2 GB worth of data to write to a DVD-5

Ok, thanks!
That must be the problem, the recent DVDs I burned, I captured them from my VCR. Normally I capture from my miniDV camera.
Any suggestions on how to capture from a VCR? Do you use Upper Feild or Lower Feild? -
This doesn't really solve my problem.
Can someone tell me some possible ways that my media is corrupting. I'm thinking that its because of the capturing step because I dont normally capture from VHS. If I just recode the media will it still be corrupted -
If you have several (3 or more) discs exhibiting these problems, it's the media. What kind of blanks are you using?

Nope , while poor media might be common thinking , its more likely you have not followed the rules as what is compatible .
Dvd-r , for sl dvd its max capacity of 4.3gig , burn at half media max speed , or at 4x (safe) , ty's or verbatim .
From the description it sounds as though your maxing out the capacity of the media ... at end of disc issue .
You use ulead video studio ... make sure you have the patches for you version ... xp screwed 7 (no save clip as parts) , 8 had filter issues .
Some players have issue with dvd+ ... jitterish play back
----
If projects are not too far over this mark , use dvdshrink to pull them back to the safe max of 4.3
What would help :
Author dvd to folder
Use pgcdemux to strip video and audio from title only
Use besweet to convert audio to ac3
Use either ifoedit to remux title streams in author mode (plenty of tips here on that) , or muxman
Use vobblanker to replace original title in compilation with new remuxed title .
Knock it down if still over 4.3gig using dvdshrink
Burn with imgburn
And enjoy . -

Ulead DVD Workshop will not make an out-of-spec author. It's extremely compliant software. ImgBurn usually won't let you burn incorrectly (use UDF/ISO mode). So there is not much chance of the disc being out of DVD-Video specs.
The blank media is probably inferior in quality. Buy better blanks. See www.nomorecoasters.com for info on good discs. You've not yet stated the brand AND media ID of your discs.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
