    Hi all -

I'm using the newest version of Xmpeg and I'm having problems getting a defined "scene selection". At the bottom the program lets you select a given range and I can't seem to select a range larger than 20 seconds? Does this have something to do with the keyframe?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, is there a newer program that has the same functionality that you preferr? Of course something free!

    Thanks!

I'd be guessing not, by the response so far. It does look interesting though, so give me a little time and I'll have a look at it.

OK, so I have had a play, and I can see why there aren't people lining up to answer your questions. It has enough bugs and quirks (some of it's own making, some because of the underlying software it uses) to make me not want to use it.

That said, I was able to select any size segment from my main video that I wanted, from 2 second to 2 minutes, and more if I needed it. I used VOB files as the source video.

About the only thing I can think of that might cause you problems is corruption int he source file - either in the video itself, or in the index in the file. This *might* stop Xmpeg being able to seek properly and therefore select the section you want.

beyond that, all I can off is try AVI Demux or Virtualdubmpeg2, both of which will do all that Xmpeg does and more - with the exception of mpeg encoding.

Thanks, I'll give it a try again w/ VOB files. If all else fails I'll try using Virtualdubmpeg2.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this!

You could also try VOB2MPG to get the mpeg streams out to play with.
