I get this error when I try to install TheFilmMachine every time.

"Could not copy avisynth.dll to system directory - Close down all applications that use Avisynth, and sure to have write permission to the system directory, and try again."

I did close all applications down before installing the program and I do have write permission to the system directory. I'm using the administrator account when installing. How do I fix this? Thanks.

  2. I think The Film Machine installs its own copy of AVIsynth. It looks like there might be a previous version installed that it cant over-write. Try uninstalling AVIsynth and reboot, then try again.

Do you have Super installed? I had a problem similar to yours several months ago and IIRC I got around it by changing the read-only attribute on avisynth.dll in my system32 folder. See this:

TFM allows you to not install AVISynth and ffdshow. The only thing it installs without an option is AC3Filter.

But make sure you do have AVISynth and ffdshow installed either by TFM or newer versions manually.

With AC3Filter it's best to uninstall any existing version before installing TFM.
You can then unregister AC3Filter( in the run box type regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\The FilmMachine\Filters\AC3Filter.ax") and install latest versions manually if you wish.

I have requested The Mask make AC3Filter a selectable option in new versions and to leave current ffdshow registration entries alone, well see how this pans out.

Ok AviSynth doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. It converted fine even with that error. But I have a new problem now. I get this error now when trying to burn the dvd after converting. Or does this have to relate to avisynth again?

"The final result is only 0 MB. Maybe something went wrong with the conversion, do you still want to burn the DVD?"

    Thanks.

Test AVISynth is working bye opening TFM_Avisynth_Script_File.avs with MPC.
That file is located in the output folder C:\Program Files\The FilmMachine\Output\

Thanks. I tried that and I get this message.

"Script error: there is no function named "DirectShowSource"
    (C:\Program Files\The FilmMachine\Output\TFM_Avisynth_Script_File.avs, line 2)"

keep in mind i'm not familiar with tfm,
and i certainly don't know what state your files are in, how they're sorted

but just put this in the plugins directory of avisynth.

    directshowsource.dll

thanks I think it's working now. It's converting the video now. I'll post back later if I have any more problems.

p.s. Is there any way to speed this up a little? It's a nice program but I'm noticing it going a bit too slow. Taking 8 hours to convert 1 video for me.
