If it were me, I'd def go HD as opposed to BlueGay just 'cos it's a SONY and they messed up a few things (spyware on CDs is one) and I personally have never been treated well by Sony when had probs with their products....

Well in my opinion, I think that you would want to go with the 360 console & HD DVD drive, because movies on HD DVD discs are cheaper than those movies that released in the Bluray format.
Next are the new VC-1 & H.264 AVC MPEG-4 codecs used for HD DVD movies, which early Bluray movies were encoded in the older MPEG-2 codec resulting in much larger files that weren't necessary, compared with these new codecs that result in much smaller encoded files that are of the same quality as MPEG-2 files.
The ability to randomly skip a scene using the HDi navigation system, look up cast bios, change audio modes (Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD etc) whilst the movie continues to play.
Have a look at http://www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com/, to grab more info on HD DVD

woah make sure you wait and get the elite version with the hdmi output - more expensive but if you have a hdtv and really want to take advantage of it that should be the way to go
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

If you wait a bit, players will play both HD and Blue Ray. Market demand will force the player manufacturers to build dual mode players. The manufacturers are in the last phase of the battle to establish the standard but it's a lost cause; neither HD or Blue Ray will kill the other. Internal company politics in the various manufacturers have a life of their own. Individuals in these companies don't want to be seen as giving up on the "war" because they are playing self serving politics. But in the end, the market hammer will force the issue - manufacture dual mode players and sell them or refuse to and don't sell any players because customers won't but them. A case in point is DVD burners. In the beginning, there were +R and -R burners. Each side was trying to kill the other. But ALL of the burner manufacturers caved in and started making dual mode burners. Things came crashing down quickly when Sony, the high priest of +R caved in and started making dual mode burners.

Yes i got the elite model was on special 499.99 , normaly goes for 549.99 plus the hd drive was 199.99 , and it came with all the cables , now my douths is ...should i plug the hdmi cable to my amp with hdmi or directly to my lcd ???
SCDVD You have a good point but , remember when the first PS2 came out it was like 600 bucks just to play games and the way things are going we are using electronics like chewing gum .. we chew and trow away everybodys knows that later on prices will come down and multi format will be in dvd`s or consoles but rigth now this is what we got and from what we got i made the choice ( with some help off corse ) to see some movies and play a couple of games .

    thanks
