I just downloaded the LOTR NTSC SVCD, and since my Tv is pal i tried to convert it to PAL VCD but the damn thing wont play, its playing the soung just fine but the video is chuppy and it looks like a slide show rather han a movie .......
B.T.W i have a DENVER DVD-player which played before VCD & SVCD just fine!
    I used Tmpgenc
    What is the problem??

  2. It is because NTSC has a frame rate of 23.97 whilst PAL is 25 so if you convert it, it f*cks up because it is missing 1.03 frames.

  4. If your TV has a v-hold knob, adjust it until the picture is steady.

The reason you image is like that is because a PAL signal is 50hz and NTSC signal is 60hz, meaning the screen gets refreshed more often than in PAL mode. The TV just can't keep up.

Most new TVs don't have v-hold knobs so you might be outta luck.

If you manage to stabilise the image, but it's in Black & white then your tv doesn't support NTSC colour signals.

The solution then is: Buy a new TV.

You could also see if your DVD player has some option where you can force it to display a PAL signal no matter what it's playing.

    Have fun.
