I authored five video clips to DVD-R using one main menu and several sub-menus. Also included are several chapters.

I checked and double checked my routings. The problem is, when the last chapter in a clip has finished playing, instead of returning to the menu, it goes to chapter two and starts playing from there!!!

I didn't really notice that there seems to be no way to set what happens after a clip is finished playing. I assumed it would return to the menu. Only menu's seem to allow you to set the "end play" function.
Clips only allow you to set the next/back/ and return functions, all of which require input from the remote control. But end play happens automatically.

    Anyone else see this?

    Hi,

I'm not sure about the end play but you can put a routing from the last chapter to MainMenu Item like you do for Chapter 1 to Chapter 2.
    That works for me.

    Thanks

    Thanks.

Yes, I know. That is for when you hit the "next" button on your remote.
But when the video program reaches it's end, it should return to the menu.
    Mine dosn't.
Instead, it returns to chapter two and begins play from there.
All of my vob's do this.

I had a similar problem when playing a vp5 made svcd. Due to my apex cutting the last 2 seconds of the movie, I added a 2s blank chapter at the end of the svcd, and let the routine point to the menu after reaching the end. Interestingly, sometimes it plays as expected, but sometime not (goto the 2nd chapter to play, not the first or the menu). I do not know if it is the player's problem or vp5's problem.

Called Roxio about this and they claimed they had not heard of this b4.

I tried a new test and changed my routings, but the end of each clip still goes to chapter two. Only when a clip has no chapters does it return to the menu after the clip finishes.

Okay, I came up with a workaround.

This assumes you have a clip with several chapter points.
Click the last element to highlight it.
Add a new blank element. It becomes a sub-element of the last chapter, and the last chapter element becomes a menu (sounds confusing, but print this out and follow along.
Click on the button editor and select "none" for the button option (the triangle to the right of the button).
The last chapter element now has an "End Play" icon (in addition to it's "next/back/return icons). Drag it's connection to whichever menu you like.
Disable this elements "next" connection by dragging it away from the element and releasing it.

I wonder if the powers that be would let us assemble an faq here since Roxio's is useless.

I found a problem with my end play "fix".
Using my method above causes VP to re-encode the entire clip since I'm in effect turning the clip into a menu.

So, back to the drawing board.

I'm having a wonderful conversation with myself!

Well, I uninstalled the "service pack 1" fix, and wrote a new image.
This image did not have the "chapter 2" bug. I burned it to DVD-RW and this also did not have the bug.
So as of now I'm assuming it's something introduced by the service pack 1.
