    I have a bunch of MPG's which I would like to create into a VCD. I do not currently have a DVD-R drive but is it possible to make a VCD/SVCD in the DVD-R media and have it readable by standard DVD Players. I have an Apex DVD Player gives me a file list even if I dont make it in VCD format.

    As long as the audio is 48Hz and the mpeg 1 has closed GOP it is possible to author a DVD with mpeg1 files.
