So do you watch shows like Entertainment Tonight all the time? Do you really care what Paris Hilton does? Are you just dying to find out all the latest gossip?
Frankly most of the time I could care less. I mean most of the stuff is so off the wall it just makes me cringe. What do I care what some overpriced, undertalented millionaire does??
How about you?

OK I've highjacked this thread enough times...sorry Yoda. -
Can care less and frankly think the scrutiny that celebs endure is little too much. I know it's part of being a star but being followed around 24 hours a day is ridiculous. I often wonder why some of them don't have more fun with it and get creative. For example get a look alike prancing around in the nude, once the mags pay all that cash reveal it's not really you...

I am in line with the coalman on this. What happens on screen is their work and I really don't care about their home life. OK, I will join in the gossip if one like really blows their life to hell or does some good on the outside but I have my own life to live (as feable as it is) I can't keep up with who is doing whom and who is queer and who is in rehab, pretty much who cares. I have seen a few celebs in person (almost always pointed out by someone else) I held the door for Cuba Gooding one time as he was comming into a place I was leaving. We made eye contact and exchanged nods. But at the time I couldn't think of his name to save my life. I knew he was an actor, but I am so weak on trivia that I just couldn't think of his name. I now have a stock line that I use when I pass some local TV personalities. I smile, nod and say "I enjoy your work" (OK I have only used maybe three times and twice on the same sportscaster) But what are you supposed to say? "Can I have your autograph?" I don't want an autograph unless it is on one of their checks written out to "CASH"
I was in a restraunt a few months back and a guy that was in the new "Longest Yard" movie came in. I have not seen the flick, but the guy is like seven foot tall. At any rate everybody was whispering about who he was and that is how I found out. Soooo, One guy sends his little daughter about halfway across the place but a couple of tables away from the "Star" and takes a picture with his cell phone. I was thinking what a chicken shit move. I asked the phone owner if he wanted me to take a picture of him and his daughter next to the "Star" and he was all hush hush like he just pulled off some great sneak attack and didn't want any more attention drawn towards himself. Chicken shit!
Now I got a buddy that should be working for the Enquirer. He has taken somany photos of celebs that I couldn't even guess how many. He points his cam at them and then asks if he can get a photo. Almost all of them say yes and wave. He is a big sports fan and knows who is who and always seems to be at the right place at the right time. I asked what he does if one says "No" and he says that it has never happened. If he is close enough to ask, he will always ask and if he is out of speaking range he just shoots.
My biggest fear is that I am gonna see a celeb that I don't like and open my mouth to pour out an opinion. A couple of political celebs from the past come to mind, so I will bow out now.IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
I don't give a flying F about any "stars" and never did.
But I can see how they are useful for all the morons with no life on their own thats our society is mostly built on... Tube-propaganda gurus know it too...
Whats interesting is that 90% of our little poll answers are "NO - I dont care about them" 8-O
Its hard for me to believe there is so many really smart users on this website... me thinks most of those answers are just lies -
Nope.
I think the one and only time I watched ET was when Chris Reeve died. They had some tribute coverage. That was in 2004.
I don't watch that reality show crap either. I made an exception for the mini-series on VH-1 that time, SuperGroup. That was more metal than reality. That was about a year ago.
I have no idea what's going on with any celebrities, I don't know who half of them are these days, and I have no idea what season Survivor is in or even if it's on tv anymore.
Autographs were nifty when I was 10, but it's not very meaningful these days. Even if I met an actor whose work I enjoyed, I would not have anything to say or ask for. "Good job" has already been said by me buying DVDs, watching the shows, or paying for tickets. Most times I'd rather just know them as the character, I don't give a crap about the real person.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

ANd yeah, I've 'said' probably 10s of thousands Thank Yous by buying CDs and DVDs too.
No need for me to talk to i.e. some old woman who was cute some 50 years ago in a movie I just bought on DVD, probly I wouldn't even recognize her LOL

Are you celebrity obsessed?
Only when they are women and get naked. -
What's sad is the evening news has got into the celeb watch game so much I cant tell it from ET/ The Insider or any of those types of shows.
NL -
In general no. I don't watch ET or any similar shows and I don't really care about who's been arrested for what, or who's getting married or divorced, or gay or straight or undecided. I don't care who's having a baby, nor by whom. I don't care if someone is adopting some overseas baby or pretending to help some charity organization. I don't have any interest in the manufactured celebrity of the week.
Having said that, I do sometimes read the celebrity gossip articles on AOL after checking my email. And it always confirms why I don't care."Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard

What pisses me off is when a celebrity is in the news(eg Anna Nicole Smith,Don Imus) then that's all we hear about in the US,I have to watch PBS because the other news stations air celebrity crap ad nauseum.
-
Well thats a relief! So many people have posted they don't care about all the celebrity gossip.... but then again how do shows like entertainment tonight stay on the air then?????
I mean sometimes its fun to watch for a few minutes just to see how bad its gotten. But the stuff is SO OVERHYPED that it just turns me off.....
I mean the other week - who was it Baldwin caught screaming at his daughter on an answering machine or something like that??? I mean who the hell cares??????????Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
And another thing! You would not believe how important the art of making a movie/TV show is. (This is pertaining to the women celbs mostly) Some celebs just do not look the same in real life. I mean I have been shocked to see some without the movie make-up. OK, I'll give you that some have put on the years, and I am not really up to date as far as seeing new releases and such. And yes there are female stars that I think are sexy as hell, but I have really been suprised to see that some do not have that perfect skin tone, perfect smile of even that good of a posture. I mean to look at them in real life you would have to wonder how they got picked to be in the flicks anyways. I know it is not nice to pick on someones looks or physical condition, but being that this is kind of about image I will point this out. There is definately some camera magic out there. Height is another thing that has supprised me. OK I am 6'-2" if I can stand up straight that day, and some think that is kind of on the tall side so it would seem that there are alot of shorter people out there. Well to me I don't really pay that much attention to height until there is an extreame difference, say maybe a foot shorter or six inches taller. It has come to my attention that most of the celebs that I have seen are borderline "short". I understand that there is a perception that these are "Bigger than life" people, but it still supprises me to see them in real life.
Man alive, if the camera could take the weight off of me I would be 12' tall!IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
No time for celebrities, I'm too busy answering polls like this one.
-
People who aren't too fond of themselves often try to pattern themselves after famous people cause people are fond of them. So they watch what they are doing.
But then some people are famous just for being famous. -
If I wanted to be famous I would want to be famous for being RICH!

All that stuff that Lordsmurf said, and I don't think he left anything out,
goes for me as well.
Most of those people are boring beyond belief.

There're out there.
As someone mentioned and my other post, I have to go to BBC, PBS, (NPR mainly) to get the real news or to find what is going on around the world.
