    I have this movie as .m2v and want to add audio which i have fixed the audio is in .mp3 format as indicated in gspot but when I go to mpeg tools in TMPGEnc Plus and try to add in simple muliplex it says

    You can't mux m2v and mp3 with tmpgenc. Maybe some other muxer can it but I don't know any. Better would be to use mp2/mpa or ac3 audio in the mpg.

    well the movie is in 3 parts as avi but part 2`s audio is in



    this is why i had to try and change to mpeg-1 layer 3 as same as 1 and 3 so i can then join all 3 x .avi movies into 1 with same audio so now i am stuck on what to do

    I'm not sure, but I don't think you can have mp3 audio in an mpg container. At least I've never come across such an mpg.
    And I really don't follow your reasoning why different audio types in the source AVIs should have any bearing on what audio type you go for when you convert them to mpg.

    Convert to PCM or mpeg1-layer2 (or even AC3)

    well i wanted to join the 3 .avi movies and if 1 has a different audio type this can not be done

    Then convert them all to the same format. Audio encoding takes only a couple of minutes per file.
