  1. I convert my dv files to xvid files at 680*480 and use crystal player to view them. Well when it starts lagging it comes up "speed issues" you press s and it gives you details. It says "Fast YV12->YUV422 conversion (can't setup YV12)" What exactly is YV12. I am guessing its because I have a slow pc and thus making the vids at 680*480 and above lag.

Fill in your computer specs and we can see if it is powerful enough to playback a 60 x 480 xvid encoded file. However anything from a PIII onwards should be able to do the job.

    How do you encode ?
What settings and software do you use ?
Does this happen with other players - for example VLC ?
