i currently have a 50" Vizio Plasma that has built in DCDiŽ by Faroudja. Would I get any advantage using an upconverting DVD player at the same time?? I currently am using a Panny F87S via component and the picture is great, i wonder, is the TV up converting the DVD's for me?????

I'm surprised edDV hasn't answered this one. My understanding is that your TV is doing the upconverting, so you might not get any advantage with an upconverting player. I have a Samsung 1080p LCD HDTV and it has a great picture. I'm just using componnet connections too with my old Philips DVP-642 and the picture is great, much better than I would have expected. My DVP player can't upconvert, but it can send out progressive video, so that's what I set it to do. If I remember correctly, Faroudja makes really good chips, so it probably would be upconvert better than a lot of DVD players anyway.
