  1. I have a whole bunch of hi-8 tapes I have already captured on my system. Progression is

    JVS TR517 Camcorder (wDNR/TBC on)
    Sima CSS
    Canon ZR700 (firewire link)

capping with WinDV Type1 (it works with my Canon)
Then doing some further filtering in vdub

Then I encode to DVD spec with TMPGEnc

Now when I open these files in Premiere, the colour on the preview window is fine, but when I click on the Sequence window, the colours are.... weird. There are also some red vertical stripes throughout the frame. The change also happens on the Preview window, but when I click on the Preview window again, the colours are ok again.

What the heck is going on here?

Check computer stats for more hardware info.

  2. I had a similar problem ( *although not identical) when I first used Premiere Elements 3, and it turned out to be an issue with the graphics card drivers. So I uninstalled them and let XP use its own, and haven't had the problem since.

If you render and export a small example clip, is that ok ?

    * on PE 3 everything was fine the first time I used the application, but after a restart, all I had in the display was weird strobing colours but no actual video.

  3. Yes, it sounds like a graphics card thing.

Depending on your project settings, it could happen to a greater extreme, or not at all.

Rest assured your original footage should be, and is fine. And, what 12Quidkidinnit said, exporting a clip is the best way to check.

  4. I have some clips that say rendered, and no, they are not ok. I also have a m2v file that was made and it also has this problem. I have an ATI AIW9800 pro, so if there is a graphics card issue, I don't think I will be able to get around it.
